Political Correctness, what is it and who defines it? When someone is “PC” they are alienating a good part of the public, those who do not agree. Oprah decided in the last election to endorse Barack Obama; her ratings dipped. All of a sudden those who thought she was the greatest found out they did not like her getting into a political race. When asked if she would campaign for him this time around she said no, she loves him but she is trying to build a cable network.

Recently I attended a diversity workshop and heard about political correctness, I pointed out the above and I saw heads shaking approval, what you think is PC and what I think is PC on the same issue can be so different, so who is right?

My latest PC complaint stems from a debate I heard on Monday. I heard the term illegal’s is racist, Really, REALLY? If someone comes into this country illegally they are illegal’s period. They are not following the law they are being illegal, how the heck is this racist. Why do illegals have more rights than citizens? In Los Angeles if you are illegal and involved in a traffic accident you will be released with your car to crash again.

My grandparents came here from Sicily, arrived at Ellis Island, followed the rules, were discriminated against, but managed to get jobs, pay taxes, become citizens and contribute to the community; they followed the rules. Despite this Italians are referred to as Mafia, but this is not considered racist. The television show Jersey Shore is so anti-Italian and racist, but it is accepted by the PC. Jersey Shore is the Amos and Andy of the 21st century. In this Country, it is ok to be racist toward Italians; what a damn shame. Illegal’s a racist term, I think not!

I do not know exactly when our country became so divided, but we are. A Facebook friend asked a question. When President Obama travels on a campaign trip, who pays the expenses, the campaign or the taxpayers? A fair question thought this person. He was attacked. The first response was “Bush did it.” The second, the question is only asked because of his skin color. Really, Really?

If all of our former President’s trips were funded by taxpayers I guess a precedent was set, which would included both Democrats and Republicans. As for skin color, give me a break, the race card; the last I checks a large number of non blacks voted for the President or he would have never become President.

The upcoming election, I am afraid is going to be the most nasty in the history of our country. When one side gets nasty, the other side can be worse. This is a statement, an opinion, and I have not said which side will throw the first volley. Here is a wild idea; the candidates should run on records and philosophies— what a concept! I am sure most intelligent voters want to hear about issues, not about personalities, spouses, or children of the candidates.

Put the issues on the table, put the facts on the table, do not make up facts debate them, debate the issues, and keep the mudslinging to yourself. I think the entitled of this county need to grow up, recognize we are in financial crises and decide which candidate can work with congress and the senate to fix the bleeding. The way I feel today, we should vote any officer holder out and start new, whether they be in the house, senate, or President. Maybe the Democrats’ need a new candidate, I do not know. Maybe Republicans need to figure out a platform which can help the country and get more votes; again I do not know. I do know the personal attacks, the race card and mudslinging all needs to go away, let us use our intelligence during the upcoming political season.

It appears we as a country just do not want to learn from history. The Roman Empire was one of the greatest in the history of the world, until they got to the point where Nero fiddled and Rome burned. I believe we are close to seeing the United States burn.

Why do I say this? We have Nancy Pelosi wanting to stop free speech if they do not agree with her. She has a right to her opinions as misguided as I believe they are, but I want to protect my right to say this. Pelosi would rather put a gag on my thoughts.

We have become a society which has extremes on both sides and hear very little from the middle. We have lost the art of compromise in the United States. We have accepted lies from politicians. We hear people say oh they are just politicians they always lie. Go back and listen to the drowning of then candidate now governor of California Jerry Brown when he admitted politicians lie and will promise anything to get elected. Even after saying this, the cattle in California drank the kool-aid and elected him again!

We have a medical system pushed through by one side of elected officials who never read the close to 3 thousand page bill, and a Supreme Court ruling on this bill who do not want to read all 3 thousand pages, and admit to this.

While this is going on let us invite more performers to the White House to entertain the President. We have no problems; let us pay for another party. We have people who listen to actors and their opinions like they are well thought out. For the most part they are not thought out; they want to get their next multimillion dollar role and will say anything they think their studio wants them to say. Why are their opinions more important than yours?

And now our leaders want to put a black box in your car for your “Safety.” Please they want yet another way to keep an eye on what you say and what you do. Will you not be able to talk freely in your car without worrying about the thought police trying to shut you down? It is time we as a country fight for the rights our country was founded on. You do not have to be cattle and follow the politically correct. Of course who decides what is PC?

If we continue to buy into the belief government is here to fix everything and take care of all of us, then we buy into the belief government can tell us what to think, and if we do not agree, government will remove us. Animal Farm, 1984, The Republic, Karl Marx and more are not far above the horizon. I love a country which can debate issues, not one which has one’s ideas shoved down our throats. I love a country where anyone can worship or not as they see fit. I hope you do too. We are in a point in history where we again must fight for our rights.

It is 2012, yet it seems that we are back in the Roman Colosseum watching Christians get devoured by lions. Yes, today is kick a Catholic day, tomorrow every other faith. Think I am wrong, think again. Attacks always begin on the biggest or strongest. Chip away at it bit by bit till it begins to crumble. A person close to me has often told me this analogy.

We have witnessed the attacks from the left growing stronger and stronger. Most recently, March 9th Freedom From Religion Foundation, (a site beloved by such miserable atheists as Janeanne Garofalo and Mike Malloy) placed an advertisement in the New York Times thoroughly bashing Catholics for maintaing their religious beliefs regarding birth control. The ad is utterly vile and hideous. Saying Catholics have blind allegiance to a” illusory religious authority”, and are like battered women that keep going back for more. Which by the way, is a sexist statement.

March 13th, Liberal talk show host Chris Matthews calls Catholicism and Mormonism cults. Catholicism is the foundation of all Christian religions. Hardly a cult.

This assault on our religious freedom is not pertaining  just to Catholics, Mormons or any other Christian. It is relevant to all religions. Mark my words, Judaism is next.

We need to make a stand today, that is why I am coming forward and asking everybody on Thursday,April 5th at 3pm (the day before Good Friday) to call, email, old school hand write your local/national media outlets and elected officials and tell them we are not going to let you trample and defile our religious beliefs.
